Our partner is ITALIA NATURA, a premium Italian natural personal care brand specializing in organic cleansing products, mother and baby care lines, and luxury hotel scented care sets. Its products are sold across high-end Southern European markets including Italy, Spain and Greece, and supplied to local organic lifestyle stores, premium beauty retailers and luxury resort hotel supply chains. Adhering to the core concepts of natural ingredients, low irritation and biodegradability, the brand strictly complies with EU REACH, IFRA and ECOCERT organic cosmetic standards, imposing stringent requirements on surfactant raw materials in terms of purity, compatibility, mildness and environmental performance.
For this project, the client required customized high-purity composite APG as the core surfactant for its full range of care products, with an annual intended procurement volume of 120 tons. The client put forward strict customized technical specifications as follows: raw materials derived from natural corn and coconut; monoglucoside content ≥72%, residual sugar ≤0.3%, free alcohol ≤0.2%; colorless and odorless finished product; stable compatibility with plant essential oils, amino acid surfactants and natural moisturizing extracts without turbidity, discoloration or foam decay; excellent fluidity at both ambient and low temperatures to fit automated production lines; biodegradability ≥95%. Additional requirements included exclusive formula process confidentiality, full-chain raw material traceability documents and a complete set of EU compliance certificates.
The client previously contacted multiple domestic manufacturers, yet conventional APG products commonly suffered from insufficient purity, residual odor, unstable compound systems and thickening at low temperatures. Even standard modified versions failed to meet all premium specifications simultaneously. The client ultimately entrusted HiSiaddi with full delivery of this exclusive customization project.
General industrial-grade APG adopts simple purification processes, resulting in high residual sugar and free alcohol content. These impurities cause unpleasant odors and reduce mildness, making such products unsuitable for mother, baby and sensitive skin lines. The impurity thresholds set by the client are far stricter than mainstream commercial standards, which cannot be consistently achieved via conventional rectification and filtration techniques.
The brand’s compound formulas incorporate diverse plant essential oils and active extracts. Conventional APG features fixed surface tension and HLB values, which disrupt colloidal equilibrium upon mixing, leading to foam loss, system delamination and color darkening.
The client’s production plant faces drastic temperature fluctuations between hot summers and cold winters. Standard APG undergoes sharp viscosity spikes at low temperatures, causing blockages in pipeline conveying, while high-temperature storage triggers delamination, hindering automated pipeline transportation and continuous production.
All raw materials must come from renewable plant sources with no petrochemical auxiliary materials allowed, and biodegradability must exceed the standard level of ordinary products, imposing higher demands on synthesis routes and post-treatment processes.
Customized ratios and synthesis parameters constitute core supply chain information of the brand. Independent production control is required to prevent technology leakage, alongside consistent batch performance from small trial runs to full-scale mass production.
HiSiaddi immediately assembled a special task force covering R&D, quality control, production and compliance teams, and collaborated with partner factories capable of high-end APG customization. We delivered a complete solution covering raw material selection, process optimization, formula adjustment, production control and compliance traceability, completing sample R&D, multiple pilot tests, stability verification and the first batch of sample delivery within 35 days.
We sourced non-GMO corn starch and natural coconut oil certified by EU standards as starting materials, eliminating petrochemical and recycled auxiliary materials throughout the supply chain. Pre-treatment was conducted on raw materials to remove colloids and unsaturated impurities, minimizing by-product formation at the source. Meanwhile, a one-item-one-code traceability system was established, sorting full-chain documents covering plant raw material procurement, glycosidation reaction, refining purification and finished product filling. Bilingual Chinese-English certificates of origin and organic raw material test reports were provided to satisfy the client’s traceability audit requirements.
Abandoning traditional single-stage rectification, we adopted a combined process of continuous molecular distillation, multi-stage precision membrane filtration and low-temperature dealcoholization. Vacuum level and temperature gradients were precisely controlled to sequentially remove free alcohol, residual sugar and other by-products. After multiple rounds of parameter tuning, the finished product stably maintained monoglucoside content between 72.6% and 73.2%, residual sugar ≤0.25%, and free alcohol ≤0.18%, fully meeting the client’s limits. The final product was colorless and odorless, fundamentally eliminating odor and irritation risks.
Based on the client’s existing formula system, we fine-tuned alkyl carbon chain distribution and glycoside polymerization degree to accurately regulate HLB value and surface tension. Hundreds of compounding simulation tests were carried out, including long-term static storage and hot-cold cycle testing with the client’s commonly used plant essential oils, amino acid surfactants and natural extracts. The optimized customized APG exhibited outstanding compatibility with all types of raw materials, maintaining a clear and transparent system with rich, long-lasting foam without discoloration, flocculation or foam decay, perfectly matching multiple premium care formulas of the brand.
Without compromising mildness and environmental performance, we optimized the proportion of solubilizing additives to modify molecular aggregation states. Actual testing verified that the product retained excellent fluidity at -5°C for smooth pipeline conveying, with no delamination or precipitation after 72 hours of constant-temperature storage at 50°C. This completely resolved conveying obstacles during full-season production at the client’s plant and supported automated production line operations.
We optimized the catalytic system for glycosidation while retaining the readily biodegradable molecular structure of alkyl polyglucosides and eliminating hard-to-degrade components. Third-party authoritative laboratories conducted testing per EU OECD standards, confirming a biodegradability rate of 95.7%, exceeding the client’s requirement and aligning with the brand’s premium natural and eco-friendly positioning.
An independent enclosed production zone was designated with dedicated exclusive equipment. Thorough cleaning and isolation procedures were implemented before and after production to avoid cross-contamination between different product grades. Multi-level non-disclosure agreements were signed with manufacturing partners, with customized formulas and process parameters encrypted and archived, guaranteeing no disclosure of technical solutions to third parties. Hourly sampling inspections were conducted during production to strictly control batch consistency, and finished goods were fully tested against all indicators prior to warehousing. EU-standard bilingual labels were produced, alongside sealed packaging suitable for ocean freight.
We compiled a full set of supporting documents including REACH compliance statements, SVHC high-concern substance screening reports, toxicological irritation test reports, biodegradability test reports and ECOCERT raw material compliance certificates. All documents were issued by CNAS-accredited laboratories to ensure full compliance during customs clearance and market sales.
The client sent samples to third-party laboratories in Italy for comprehensive testing. All customized indicators including raw material purity, impurity content, fluidity, biodegradability and compound stability met standards, with overall performance surpassing the raw materials previously used by the client.
The customized APG was put into actual production. All processes including feeding, stirring, conveying and filling operated smoothly, and finished products met premium standards in appearance, skin feel, foam performance and fragrance retention with positive feedback from end consumers.
The first batch of 30 tons was manufactured, customs cleared and shipped by sea on schedule. Complete compliance documents passed Italian customs review without detention for successful delivery.
