Buyer: NutriPremium SAS, a high-end French nutrition group and leading domestic mid-to-high-end dietary raw material purchaser in France. Its products are sold in premium organic sections of French Carrefour, national pharmacy chains, and infant complementary food counters in Belgium. The group operates three core product lines: organic plant-based beverages, premium sports nutrition powders, and medical oral nutrient solutions. Its raw material access complies with six stringent standards: USP Pharmacopoeia, EP European Pharmacopoeia, LFGB, EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848, Kosher and BRC Global Food Safety Standard.
The group plans to custom-purchase 110 tons of bio-based high-purity L-lactic acid annually. Unlike conventional 80% and 88% lactic acid widely available on the market, the client has three non-standard customized technical requirements that cannot be met by standard mass production lines of major domestic lactic acid manufacturers (Jindan Technology, Sanjiang Gude). The customized project stalled for nearly one month, and the client entrusted HiSiaddi with full-process customized development and delivery.
1. Custom Concentration: Reject mainstream 80%/88% liquid specifications; custom solid content of 72.5%±0.3% L-lactic acid with acidity fluctuation limited to ≤±0.1%. This matches the client’s online automated pH closed-loop regulation for beverages, a value hard to stabilize via conventional concentration and dilution processes.
2. Custom Configuration & Purity: Optical purity of L-lactic acid ≥99.7%, D-lactic acid isomer content ≤0.12%, internal control limits for heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium) set at 50% of national standards, APHA color ≤15, and no filter aids permitted. This meets clean label regulations for infant nutrient solutions.
3. Custom Raw Materials & Packaging: Restricted to non-GMO sugar beet fermentation raw materials with full organic traceability. Instead of standard 25kg plastic drums, custom sterile IBC totes lined with food-grade EVOH barrier film are required for full light shielding and anti-oxidation, ensuring no discoloration or deterioration after 6 months of low-temperature storage in France.
Major domestic lactic acid manufacturers focus on standardized mass production with fixed processes for 80% and 88% lactic acid. Modifying production lines for trial production incurs high costs, and manufacturers lack translation and compliance capabilities to handle overseas customized specifications. Three batches of trial samples supplied by multiple factories all failed due to excessive concentration deviation, over-limit isomer content, and yellow discoloration during long-term storage. Factories only supply off-the-shelf products per their internal standards and refuse to invest in R&D adjustments for niche customized specifications.
HiSiaddi formed a special task force consisting of lactic acid technical engineers, compliance specialists and production coordinators to liaise with two top-tier domestic lactic acid manufacturers – Jindan Technology and Sanjiang Gude. The full-cycle customization from lab samples to pilot production and mass production was completed in 22 days across four phases:
1. Collaborated with the manufacturer’s R&D department to adjust fermentation strains and screen high-L-configuration lactobacilli. Segmented temperature-controlled fermentation pH cultivation was adopted to curb D-lactic acid by-product generation at the source, stabilizing D-isomer content below 0.1%.
2. Revised post-fermentation refining workflows: replaced single-stage conventional concentration with multi-stage low-temperature membrane filtration + precise vacuum rectification instead of traditional high-temperature concentration. The concentration was slowly calibrated to exactly 72.5%, with real-time online solid content monitoring per batch to eliminate concentration instability.
3. Added two-stage activated carbon ultrafiltration impurity removal to eliminate trace pigments and heavy metal contaminants, stabilizing finished APHA color at ≤12 to satisfy long-term low-color storage requirements.
1. HiSiaddi coordinated domestic sugar beet planting bases recognized by French authorities to lock exclusive batches of non-GMO beet raw materials. A five-level traceability archive covering beet cultivation, sugar refining, fermentation, lactic acid refining and finished product filling was compiled, with each raw material batch linked to farm numbers, harvesting documents and factory incoming inspection records.
2. Assisted manufacturers in implementing physical isolation of dedicated customized production lines, with separate fermentation tanks and refining pipelines exclusive to organic raw materials to avoid cross-contamination with conventional corn feedstock. Simultaneously completed EU-recognized organic filing and issued COI organic certificates.
Coordinated packaging manufacturers to produce custom sterile food-grade IBC totes with inner EVOH high-barrier light-shielding liners. Drum bodies were printed with bilingual French-English product parameters, E296 additive code, trace batch numbers and EU importer filing information, replacing ordinary PE drums widely used in the industry to prevent oxidative discoloration during transportation and storage.
Custom batch-specific COA test reports aligned with European Pharmacopoeia and French food laws, with dedicated testing of client-specified indicators including isomers, heavy metals and color for every batch. A full set of export documents including CNAS-accredited third-party test reports, SDS safety data sheets and organic traceability files was provided.
1. Lab samples (500ml): All indicators met standards after 3 rounds of process fine-tuning. Samples were sent to the client’s French laboratory for formulation compatibility testing, with no abnormal pH, delamination or precipitation observed during machine trials of three end products.
2. Pilot trial batch (1.2 tons): Small-batch production via dedicated factory lines passed the client’s accelerated stability test (90-day storage at 5°C), with no changes to product color or concentration.
3. Mass production launch: After full qualification confirmation, the client signed an annual framework order for 110 tons of customized lactic acid, split into 9 monthly production batches shipped via sea in custom IBC totes.
The first 13 tons of customized lactic acid were shipped from Shanghai Port to Le Havre Port. French customs cleared the goods quickly after verifying customized product parameters, organic traceability and compliance documents, allowing the client’s three high-end production lines to operate at full capacity. The reject rate of finished products dropped from 18.6% (when using conventional off-the-shelf lactic acid) to below 0.5%.
1. For the French high-end client: Customized lactic acid supported mass production of new products, enabling three organic beverage lines to launch across all premium Carrefour stores in France. End-product premium pricing increased by 31% compared with formulations using Dutch imported lactic acid. Leveraging the customized standard template provided by HiSiaddi, the client established internal acceptance specifications for special lactic acid raw materials, cutting the R&D cycle for future new product raw material customization by 55% and significantly reducing sample testing loss costs.
In the following year, the client expanded into high-end nutrition markets in Spain and Portugal, adding 46 tons of customized lactic acid procurement, bringing total annual purchases to 156 tons. All lactic acid customization orders were exclusively entrusted to HiSiaddi.
1.
For the two domestic lactic acid manufacturers: Supported by HiSiaddi, the manufacturers accumulated process experience for special customized lactic acid and refined EP Pharmacopoeia-grade lactic acid quality control systems through this high-end French order. They subsequently secured three additional customized orders from dietary supplement enterprises in Italy and Norway, successfully entering the European high-end special lactic acid supply chain and expanding their non-standard customized product portfolio.

3.
For HiSiaddi Foreign Trade Service Provider: Differentiated full-service capabilities covering formulation parameter customization, production line process coordination, traceability compliance, custom packaging and complete document support were established. Breaking away from traditional spot goods markup trading models, HiSiaddi built deep long-term partnerships with mid-to-high-end European nutrition brands via its niche lactic acid customization expertise.
4.
Major domestic lactic acid manufacturers prioritize large-scale standardized mass production focused on conventional 80%/88% bulk specifications, lacking motivation to adjust production lines for niche non-standard parameters demanded by mid-to-high-end overseas clients, as well as cross-border compliance expertise. High-end overseas nutrition brands adopt highly refined formulations that cannot be matched by generic off-the-shelf raw materials.
As a full-industry-chain resource integrator, HiSiaddi bridges the gap between clients’ customized indicators and manufacturers’ process adjustments, resolving end-to-end pain points in customized development. It enables mid-to-high-end overseas buyers to source customized raw materials from China while helping high-quality domestic lactic acid manufacturers penetrate the high-end overseas special raw material market.
