The enterprise specializes in the production of premium precision machine tools and optical instruments, with multiple sets of closed circulating cooling water systems and process soft water systems deployed across its plant to serve the high-end precision manufacturing industrial chain in Europe. It strictly complies with Swiss SN Standards, EU Water Framework Directive and OECD biodegradation standards, and prioritizes low-phosphorus, low-toxicity and high-stability chemical agent solutions, representing a typical mid-to-high-end European industrial client.

    The client procures HPAA (2-Hydroxyphosphonoacetic Acid) on an annual basis for composite pipeline systems consisting of carbon steel and copper alloys. Its core customized requirements include high-purity, low-impurity formulations with strong corrosion inhibition, compatibility with zinc salt compound systems, superior biodegradability and zero batch-to-batch performance fluctuation. The annual procurement volume stands at 22 tons, delivered in 5 separate batches.

    1. Strict Indicator Requirements Unmet by General-Grade Products

    Customized standards specified by the client: HPAA active component ≥52%, inorganic phosphate ≤0.8%, phosphite ≤1.0%, total heavy metals (lead, cadmium, chromium) ≤3mg/kg. Conventional domestic industrial-grade HPAA only contains 45%~50% active ingredients with excessive impurities, failing to satisfy the usage requirements of high-end equipment and EU environmental screening standards.

    2. Poor Compatibility with Compound Formulations Leading to Zinc Salt System Failure

    The client’s existing formula adopts HPAA compounded with zinc salt corrosion inhibitors. Standard HPAA triggers zinc ion precipitation and system turbidity/stratification, preventing uniform passivation film formation on metal surfaces. The carbon steel pipeline corrosion inhibition rate only reaches 82%, falling short of the client’s internal control standard of ≥95%.

    EU regulations mandate a 28-day biodegradation rate of no less than 50% for chemical agents. HPAA produced via conventional processes only achieves around 35% biodegradation, creating environmental compliance risks that prevent full-scale deployment at the Swiss plant.

    The plant’s circulating water operates at a constant temperature of 70~85°C. Long-term use of standard HPAA accelerates hydrolysis and gradually weakens scale inhibition capacity, resulting in trace carbonate scale buildup on heat exchanger inner walls and impairing equipment heat exchange precision.

    5. Loose Production Control Causing Obvious Batch-to-Batch Discrepancies

    The client requires a maximum deviation of ≤0.3% for all indicators (active content, impurities) across different batches. Most manufacturers adopt intermittent manual feeding production, leading to significant performance fluctuations between batches. Operators must repeatedly adjust on-site dosing ratios, making standardized operation impossible.

    III. Customized Solutions Provided by HiSiaddi

    HiSiaddi set up a special task force covering R&D, production control, application testing and compliance services. In collaboration with domestic manufacturers capable of high-end fine chemical customization, we delivered full-cycle sample development, testing and mass production within 3 weeks from five dimensions: formula optimization, production process upgrading, compound formulation debugging, quality control system establishment and compliance supporting services.

    We selected high-purity synthetic raw materials, optimized reaction ratios and temperatures, and extended thermal holding reaction time to stably raise the product active component to 52.3%, exceeding the client’s requirement. Two-stage filtration and ion exchange purification processes were added to thoroughly remove inorganic phosphate, phosphite and trace metallic impurities. Final test results: phosphate reduced to 0.72%, phosphite to 0.85%, total heavy metals detected at merely 2.1mg/kg, fully meeting all specified standards. Trace eco-friendly stabilizers were added via minor molecular structure adjustments to inhibit hydrolysis under medium-temperature conditions. After 15 consecutive days of operation at 85°C, the retention rate of active ingredients remained above 94%.

    Hundreds of compatibility tests were conducted based on the client’s compound system. Special chelating synergistic components were incorporated into finished HPAA to strengthen zinc ion stabilization. After optimization, the product maintains clarity without stratification or precipitation when mixed with zinc salt corrosion inhibitors for long-term storage. A dense protective film forms on metal surfaces, lifting the comprehensive corrosion inhibition rate for carbon steel and copper alloys to 96.2%, fully matching the client’s existing formula system.

    Post-synthesis processing procedures were revised to reduce residual hard-to-degrade by-products and optimize molecular structure. Third-party testing in accordance with OECD 301B standards recorded a 28-day biodegradation rate of 58%, successfully passing EU environmental indicator audits.

    We coordinated the manufacturer to deploy a fully automatic DCS continuous production line with computerized precise control of temperature, feeding volume and pH, eliminating manual intervention.
