    I. Client Background (Mid-to-High-End Positioning)

    Client: Belgium Polymax A renowned European R&D and manufacturer of high-end functional materials, Belgium Polymax specializes in food-contact grade PVC films, automotive interior elastomers, and photovoltaic cable insulation materials. It has long supplied leading European photovoltaic enterprises, well-known automobile manufacturers and food packaging groups. The company strictly complies with multiple high-standard specifications including EU REACH, RoHS, EU Regulation 10/2011 on food contact materials, low volatility and weathering & aging resistance. As a technology-driven mid-to-high-end client, it prioritizes product quality and service performance over procurement costs.

    To iterate its new generation of weather-resistant photovoltaic cable insulation compounds, the client planned to adopt modified hydrotalcite as an eco-friendly thermal stabilizer and smoke suppressant, and put forward a set of exclusive customized indicators. In the early stage, the client contacted multiple domestic manufacturers, all of whom could only supply general-purpose products and failed to conduct targeted adjustments on powder modification, particle size and purity, delaying the progress of the client’s R&D project.     II. Core Customization Requirements & Technical Challenges

    Considering the service conditions of photovoltaic cables including long-term outdoor service, high-temperature extrusion processing and eco-safety, the client specified four core customized indicators, which are also technical bottlenecks hard to break through for general-grade modified hydrotalcite:

    1. High purity & low heavy metal content: Main component content ≥99.3%, total content of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury ≤8ppm, fully complying with EU food contact and electrical & electronic environmental standards. General products usually exceed the heavy metal limit and cannot be applied to high-end scenarios.

    2. Customized particle size & dispersibility: Median particle size D50 controlled at 1.2~1.8μm with narrow particle size distribution and no powder agglomeration, matching high-speed extrusion production lines to avoid granular defects on cable surfaces. Conventional commercial products generally have D50 above 3μm with poor dispersion performance.

    3. Exclusive composite surface modification system: Composite modification with fatty acid and silane to balance low oil absorption value and high compatibility, forming strong bonding force with polyolefin and PVC substrates without precipitation or migration during processing. Ordinary products only adopt single surface treatment with insufficient formula compatibility.

    4. High thermal stability & enhanced weather resistance: Thermal decomposition temperature ≥320℃ to adapt to the extrusion process at 200~220℃; after 1,200 hours of accelerated artificial aging, the attenuation of material mechanical and insulating properties is less than 4%, meeting the 25-year outdoor service requirement.

    Most domestic manufacturers focus on mass production of general models and are unwilling to adjust synthesis, modification and classification processes for small-batch customization, making it hard to fulfill the client’s customized demands.

    III. HiSiaddi Full-Process Customization Solution

    HiSiaddi set up a special technical team and cooperated with domestic partner factories engaged in R&D of high-end functional powder materials. Following the workflow of demand decomposition → process renovation → sample iteration → machine trial verification → exclusive mass production → compliance supporting, we solved all technical challenges one by one.

    (1) Technical Communication & Root Cause Analysis

    We organized online special technical exchanges between both parties and signed bilingual technical agreements to clarify testing standards and indicator thresholds. After testing and analysis, the root defects of general products were identified: simple raw material purification processes lead to insufficient purity and excessive heavy metals; rough crystal growth control results in oversized particles and uneven distribution; single modifier cannot balance compatibility and weather resistance. Targeted process optimization schemes were formulated accordingly.

    (2) Special Optimization of Production Processes

    1. Deep purification for strict impurity control High-purity synthetic raw materials were selected, and multi-stage filtration and countercurrent water washing processes were upgraded with additional heavy metal adsorption procedures. The total heavy metal content was stably controlled below 6ppm, while the main component content was raised to 99.4%, meeting environmental access requirements.

    2. Precise crystal control & air classification We regulated synthetic reaction temperature, stirring speed and crystal precipitation duration to control crystal morphology. High-precision air classification equipment was deployed to remove coarse particles and ultrafine dust, stabilizing D50 at 1.5μm and significantly narrowing the particle size distribution range, completely eliminating powder agglomeration.

    3. Composite surface modification process Abandoning the traditional single stearic acid modification method, we adopted composite coating technology with fatty acid and special silane coupling agent to evenly wrap powder particles, greatly reducing oil absorption value, improving compatibility with polymer substrates and strengthening the powder’s temperature and weather resistance.

    4. Reinforced thermal stabilization system We fine-tuned the layered structure of hydrotalcite crystals and added trace functional additives to raise the thermal decomposition temperature to 326℃, ensuring stable high-temperature processing performance and long-term anti-aging capacity.

    (3) Multiple Rounds of Sample Iteration & Machine Verification

    · First batch of samples: Purity and particle size met standards, but anti-aging performance was slightly unsatisfactory. The team adjusted modifier ratio and crystal form control parameters for rectification.

    · Second batch of samples: All physical and chemical indicators reached standards. The client conducted formula mixing and high-speed extrusion trial production, producing smooth cable surfaces free of particles with no precipitation or peculiar odor during processing.

    The client completed full tests including high-low temperature cycling, weather aging and insulation performance, and all data exceeded standard requirements, officially locking in the mass production process.

    (4) Exclusive Production Arrangement & Full-Process Quality Control

    The factory opened an independent production line for customized products with separated production zones to avoid cross-contamination of materials. The first customized order was 4 tons, with full-time inspectors on duty throughout production and batch-by-batch sampling inspection for key processes. Each batch was delivered with English COA, particle size report, thermogravimetric analysis report and heavy metal test report to realize full traceability of products.

    (5) Customized Packaging & Supporting Compliance Documents

    Moisture-proof inner film bags plus thickened waterproof outer bags were adopted to prevent moisture absorption and caking during sea transportation and European warehousing. English product name, customized model, batch number and GHS labels were marked on outer packages. A full set of compliance documents including REACH, RoHS and food contact test reports, English GHS MSDS were provided simultaneously, together with bilingual usage guidelines specifying feeding ratio, processing temperature and storage specifications.

    IV. Implementation Outcomes

    1. Full delivery of customized demands: 4 tons of customized modified hydrotalcite were delivered smoothly, with all indicators exceeding client requirements. The finished photovoltaic cables passed full certification by multiple European institutions and were officially put into mass production.
