    I. Client Background & Customization Requirements (Mid-to-high-end European end manufacturer, not a trading intermediary)

    Purchaser: SPAIN MEDIPOL S.L. (Medipol New Materials, Spain), located in Barcelona, Spain. With 26 years of experience in manufacturing medical infusion hoses, food-grade transparent PVC sheets and medical-grade plastic consumables, the company supplies pharmaceutical and food groups across the EU. It purchases dibenzoylmethane (DBM) originally manufactured by Eastman as an auxiliary heat stabilizer for calcium-zinc composite stabilizers, with an annual DBM procurement volume of 46 tons.

    Driven by surging prices of local European and American chemical raw materials and tight production schedules of overseas major manufacturers, the client launched a localization substitution project for domestic raw materials and rejected standard mass-produced domestic DBM complying with national standards. Combining its dual production systems for medical and food-contact applications, the client put forward four mandatory customized indicators, all of which cannot be met by conventional mass-produced domestic grades:

    1. Ultra-high gas chromatography purity GC≥99.85%, single individual organic impurity ≤80 ppm. Conventional domestic DBM generally has a purity of 99.0%~99.3% with high by-product content;

    2. Ultra-low chromaticity with pure white crystals, eliminating pale yellow base color of raw materials. Most general products are pale yellow powder, which causes yellowish light transmittance of PVC products and fails to meet appearance standards for transparent medical consumables;

    3. Low volatility plus ultra-low solvent residue: total methanol and benzene residue <40 ppm, compliant with EU food-contact regulations. Conventional process products usually have residue above 200 ppm and tend to precipitate fog spots during high-temperature extrusion;

    4. Controllable fine grain size D50≤4.2 μm with excellent powder dispersibility, avoiding white spot agglomeration and uneven local thermal stability during PVC mixing.

    The client previously contacted three major domestic DBM manufacturers. Their mass production lines are fixed to produce standard national standard grades, and they were unwilling to renovate synthesis and recrystallization production lines for refined customization.     Cooperating with R&D engineers from leading domestic DBM manufacturers, HiSiaddi carried out targeted technical renovations across four production links: impurity control in synthesis, multi-stage recrystallization with composite solvents, low-temperature negative pressure drying and inert gas ultrafine grinding, to achieve all customized parameters specified by the client.

    1. Optimization of feeding ratio in synthesis section to reduce by-products Adjust the feeding ratio of acetophenone and methyl benzoate, and conduct Claisen condensation reaction with segmented gradient temperature control to reduce colored by-products of isomers at the source, cutting impurity and yellow-causing substances.

    2. Three-stage gradient recrystallization with composite solvents (core customized process) Abandoning the industry’s single ethanol rough purification process, ethanol-isopropanol mixed solvent is adopted for three-stage gradient cooling recrystallization to layer and remove colored impurities and unreacted raw materials. The finished product purity is stably controlled at 99.88%, with single impurity measured at 65 ppm, meeting the ultra-high purity threshold.

    3. Sealed low-temperature negative pressure drying to strictly control residues Replace conventional hot air drying equipment with full sealed negative pressure low-temperature solvent removal. Total organic solvent residue of finished products reaches 32 ppm, better than the client’s customized limit of <40 ppm, eliminating hidden risks of precipitation during subsequent high-temperature processing.

    4. Regulate particle size via inert gas protected ultrafine grinding Low-temperature air flow grinding under nitrogen protection with screening and classification to control grain size. The finished D50 is stably 3.3~4.0 μm with loose powder, which can disperse uniformly at room temperature in calcium-zinc stabilizer systems and eliminate white spot defects during mixing.

    III. Phased Sample Verification & Gradual Launch of Customized Mass Production

    1. Laboratory small-batch compatibility test HiSiaddi uniformly sent 5 kg customized samples. The client formulated medical PVC sheets with its own calcium-zinc stabilizer, obtaining fully transparent products without yellowing or precipitated fog spots. No early discoloration occurred under high-temperature accelerated aging, and all indicators matched Eastman original products.

    2. 500 kg pilot mass production at manufacturer Coordinate the factory to arrange separate production runs for customized batches, track central control quality inspection throughout the process with stable batch data. The client’s workshop continuously extruded medical hoses for 24 hours without screen blockage or bloom, and finished products successfully passed local Spanish food and medical raw material incoming inspections.

    3. Launch of first customized order A first order of 18 tons customized DBM was finalized.
