HiSiaddi is an innovative foreign trade service provider driven by dual pillars of technology commercialization and foreign trade services. It has established a "1+2+3+4=1" service system and can supply raw materials of green tea extract (EGCG 90%) from multiple well-known original manufacturers. As a foreign trader with R&D capabilities, HiSiaddi has repeatedly resolved customers’ customized demands for green tea extract (EGCG 90%) by leveraging technological cooperation with manufacturers and precise insight into market demands. Below is a case study demonstrating how HiSiaddi addressed customized requirements for green tea extract (EGCG 90%).

The client is HerbaVita Srl from Italy, a renowned local premium natural health brand. Its products are sold at high-end organic pharmacies, light luxury beauty stores and private health management institutions across Southern Europe including Italy, Portugal and Greece. The brand specializes in high-activity oral antioxidant capsules and portable solid beverages, with all product lines fully complying with EU EFSA food supplement regulations, EU organic standards and EP Pharmacopoeia specifications.
The client planned to launch a premium targeted antioxidant new product and specified the procurement of high-purity green tea extract with EGCG ≥90%, alongside multiple customized requirements: strict control of the proportion of each catechin monomer, low organic solvent residues, high powder flowability, mild astringent taste, stable activity for 12 months at ambient temperature, and full documentation complying with EU access rules. The client previously cooperated with three domestic manufacturers, yet standard raw materials failed to meet customized indicators despite repeated process adjustments, halting the R&D progress of new products. The client then entrusted HiSiaddi with full responsibility for raw material customization, process optimization, quality control and compliant delivery.
For conventional EGCG 90% products in the industry, the content of supporting catechin monomers fluctuates significantly. The client stipulated EGCG ≥90% while setting limits on the proportion of components such as EGC and ECG, allowing batch deviation ≤1.5%. Traditional extraction and purification processes cannot achieve accurate locking of component ratios.
Conventional processes adopt Class II organic solvents, resulting in residual levels exceeding the limits set by ICH Q3C of the EU, making them unfit for high-end dietary supplements. Replacing solvents with low-toxicity alternatives, however, tends to reduce EGCG purity.
High-purity EGCG powder features light texture, static electricity generation and poor flowability. The client’s fully automatic powder feeding equipment frequently suffered bridging and uneven feeding, leading to excessive single-capsule content variation.
EGCG is sensitive to light, oxygen and temperature. Conventional products suffer obvious activity degradation after only 3 months of storage. In addition, the raw material has a strong bitter-astringent taste, which creates an abrupt flavor when added to solid beverages and fails to meet the sensory standards of premium products.
Independent parameter debugging is required for dedicated customized production lines. Meanwhile, the client demanded EU-recognized third-party test reports, organic traceability documents and safety warning statements, which most manufacturers cannot provide alongside customized process development.
HiSiaddi collaborated with cooperative manufacturers specializing in high-end plant extracts and set up special teams covering technology, quality control and compliance. It resolved all challenges from five dimensions: raw material selection, process optimization, powder modification, flavor regulation and compliance implementation.
High-altitude cloud-fog green tea leaves with EU organic certification were selected as raw materials to reduce impurities and pesticide residues from the source. A combined process of low-temperature water extraction, nanofiltration membrane separation and macroporous resin gradient elution was adopted, with the whole process controlled below 45°C to avoid high-temperature degradation of EGCG. Precise separation of different catechin components was realized by adjusting system pH value. The final finished product maintained stable EGCG content above 90.6%, with all monomer ratios fully matching the client’s formula requirements and inter-batch index deviation controlled within 1.2%.
The traditional organic solvent extraction method was abandoned, and a water-edible ethanol crystallization process using only Class III safe solvents permitted by the EU was adopted throughout production. An additional vacuum desolvation step was added, and third-party testing verified organic solvent residues below the detection limit, fully complying with EU safety standards for food raw materials and eliminating edible safety risks.
A low-temperature fluidized bed granulation technology was applied to optimize powder particle size distribution and eliminate static electricity. Food-grade anti-caking additives permitted by regulations were added to greatly improve powder flowability and dispersibility. After modification, the raw material fed smoothly without bridging or dusting, and capsule filling variation remained within compliance limits to support the client’s continuous mass production. Meanwhile, raw material moisture was strictly controlled below 3.0% to further enhance storage stability.
On one hand, molecular coating protection technology formed a protective film on the surface of EGCG molecules to isolate light and oxygen erosion, paired with nitrogen-filled vacuum packaging. Accelerated testing verified that the activity retention rate reached 96.8% after 12 months of ambient storage. On the other hand, room-temperature physical taste masking technology adsorbed bitter substances without destroying the structure of active ingredients to weaken the inherent odor of raw materials. When mixed with the client’s original auxiliary materials, the finished product delivered a harmonious and natural flavor.
An independent customized production line was opened to avoid cross-contamination with standard raw materials, and priority scheduling shortened the production cycle. Multiple quality control nodes were set up including raw material pre-inspection, extraction liquid sampling test, purification detection and finished product full inspection. Samples were retained for each batch and complete process parameters recorded to achieve full traceability. Mass production of the first batch was completed within the agreed timeline as required by the client.
In strict accordance with EU Regulation (EU) 2022/2340, a full English document package was compiled, including EP-standard COA, test reports covering over 200 pesticide residues and heavy metals, organic certifications, non-GMO and allergen statements, and solvent residue reports. Mandatory warning statements related to liver health and daily intake limits were added as required. The format and terminology of all documents passed local compliance pre-review and were delivered together with goods.
HiSiaddi first delivered small trial samples. The client’s laboratory completed component testing, production line trial feeding, flavor and stability testing, with all customized indicators meeting standards. Both parties confirmed the finalized process.
The first batch of 350kg customized raw materials was sealed in light-proof aluminum foil vacuum bags and packed with moisture-proof cardboard drums, successfully completing customs declaration and shipment. After goods arrived at the port, local third-party re-inspection showed all indicators consistent with samples, enabling smooth customs clearance. The raw materials were put into two production lines for mass production with stable equipment operation, and the quality of end finished products fully met the brand positioning standards.
This customized raw material supported the successful launch of the client’s new product, which became a core store bestseller by virtue of high purity, high safety and stable quality. The client highly recognized HiSiaddi’s customized technical capability and compliance service level, designating HiSiaddi as the exclusive customized supplier for EGCG series raw materials with stable monthly repeat orders. New customized demands such as sustained-release EGCG and compound polyphenol raw materials were subsequently raised, continuously expanding the scope of cooperative product categories.
When overseas mid-to-high-end dietary and beauty brands purchase high-purity EGCG green tea extract, their demands extend far beyond basic content indicators, covering integrated customized requirements for component precision, safety limits, production adaptability, sensory performance and compliance documentation. Conventional mass manufacturers can only provide standardized products and fail to address multi-dimensional customization challenges.
Backed by mature supply chain resources, plant extract technology expertise and EU regulatory experience, HiSiaddi tracks the entire process from source process to end compliance and accurately resolves clients’ customized pain points. For high-end purchasing clients, foreign trade partners with integrated R&D, quality control and compliance service capabilities are the key to guaranteeing new product R&D, stable supply and long-term market operation.
