As an innovative foreign trade service provider driven by both technology commercialization and cross-border trading, HiSiaddi has built a proprietary "1+2+3+4=1" service framework and supplies sulfolane sourced directly from multiple well-known original manufacturers. Boasting in-house R&D capabilities and close technical cooperation with production plants, HiSiaddi accurately captures market demands to resolve customized product requirements and deliver optimized formulation solutions for sulfolane clients time and again.
Core Pain Points: Impurity Control & Low-Temperature Stability
In February 2024, a Dutch natural gas purification engineering firm specializing in onshore European natural gas desulfurization and decarbonization projects purchased sulfolane from HiSiaddi of China.
Client core requirements: The sulfolane would be deployed in an MDEA-sulfolane mixed desulfurization system, with mandatory specifications: purity ≥99.8%, water content ≤100 ppm, low corrosivity and low volatility. The material needed to withstand storage, transportation and injection under extreme cold conditions of -20°C without solidification, while maintaining stable viscosity. Additional prerequisites included compliance with EU REACH, CE and PED pressure equipment certifications, 25kg stainless steel drums lined with PTFE compatible with automated filling lines, and full sets of English-language clearance documents including COA, MSDS and certificates of origin.
Previously, the client sourced sulfolane from Eastern European suppliers, which suffered inconsistent purity, excessive water content and crystallization at merely -10°C. These flaws triggered fluctuating desulfurization efficiency, pipeline blockages and repeated project delays.
HiSiaddi Customized Solution: Molecular Sieve Deep Dehydration & Refined Component Ratio Adjustment
HiSiaddi partnered with a leading domestic sulfolane producer with an annual output of 30,000 tons of petrochemical high-purity grade sulfolane to launch customized product development:
Purity & impurity control: Optimized continuous rectification combined with molecular sieve deep dehydration processes stabilized product purity between 99.85% and 99.9%, with water content capped at ≤80 ppm. Chloride and sulfide ions were strictly controlled below 5 ppm to mitigate corrosion risks for carbon steel and stainless steel equipment.
Customized low-temperature stability: Refined component proportions were adjusted to lower the freezing point to -25°C. The material maintains viscosity ≤12 mPa·s at -20°C with zero crystallization or pipe blockage, fully accommodating subzero operating conditions.
Compliance certification & documentation: Coordinated with the manufacturer to complete REACH registration, CE and PED certifications. Batch-specific English COAs, SDS, certificates of origin and full inspection reports were provided to satisfy EU customs clearance and engineering filing standards.
Application-specific packaging: Custom 25kg thickened stainless steel drums lined with PTFE were printed with the client’s logo, UN hazard codes and anti-corrosion markings. The packaging fits automated filling and warehouse stacking while preventing leakage and cross-contamination.
Lab trials & mass delivery: A 200kg sample batch was supplied first for client-side low-temperature circulation testing and desulfurization efficiency verification. After confirming no crystallization, corrosion or performance deviations, 15 tons of customized sulfolane entered mass production. Third-party SGS testing was completed within 20 days, followed by temperature-controlled ocean freight direct to the Port of Rotterdam.
Cooperation Outcomes: Over 80% Repeat Purchase Rate
Within the client’s MDEA-sulfolane 3:7 blending system, the customized sulfolane delivered stable desulfurization efficiency ≥99.2% and decarbonization efficiency ≥98.5%. Long-term operation at -20°C showed no crystallization or pipeline freezing, equipment corrosion rates dropped by 40%, and maintenance cycles were extended to 18 months.
From March to December 2025, the client placed cumulative orders totaling 45 tons with a repeat purchase rate exceeding 80%. The customized grade was incorporated into the client’s standard procurement list for European projects, with subsequent rollout to natural gas purification facilities in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.
