The enterprise previously purchased customized high-grade sodium alginate exclusively from Japan’s KIMICA, with an annual rigid demand of 112 tons: 70 tons for yogurt suspension stabilizers, 28 tons for fruit juice popping bead forming gel, and 14 tons for pudding gel.

Heavy metal lead <0.8ppm, arsenic <0.5ppm, with internal control standards stricter than national standards and EU E401 limits. The powder is ultra-finely crushed to 400 mesh for rapid cold-water dissolution without agglomeration or fish-eye lumps.
2. Medium-viscosity high-G sodium alginate for NFC fruit juice popping beads (28 tons/year): Viscosity of 1% aqueous solution at 380±20mPa·s, G block proportion ≥48%. It rapidly forms dense thin-film gel upon contact with trace calcium salts, producing popping beads with a wall thickness of 0.22mm that remain intact without liquid leakage after 6 months of normal-temperature storage and transportation. Powder ash content ≤2.2%, total microbial count <100CFU/g, compatible with the client’s high-pressure dripping automatic popping bead production line.
3. Medium-low viscosity slow-setting sodium alginate for organic children’s pudding (14 tons/year): Viscosity of 1% aqueous solution at 210±10mPa·s, balanced mannuronic acid (M)/guluronic acid (G) ratio with slow calcium-induced gel formation rate. Breaking away from the mindset of purchasing general off-the-shelf products, HiSiaddi horizontally compared the qualifications, refined production capacity and flexible reform capacity of three major mid-to-high-end production bases including Qingdao Bright Moon Seaweed, Shandong Jiejing Biology and Penglai Jinchuan Seaweed, and finally confirmed Qingdao Bright Moon Seaweed as the customized production partner. Coordinating with the factory’s procurement department, HiSiaddi signed an exclusive raw material targeted acquisition agreement with compliant organic kelp culture bases in Rongcheng, Shandong. Harvest cycles were fixed for summer mature kelp with stable alginic acid content and low impurities. Each batch of kelp was accompanied by origin traceability documents and pesticide residue test reports, eliminating aged algae, miscellaneous algae and deteriorated raw materials. Separated raw material storage areas were designated independently, distinct from the factory’s mixed procurement model for general raw materials. G/M ratio, ash content and heavy metal indicators of finished products were controlled from the raw material end to meet the client’s organic raw material traceability requirements.
Conventional sodium alginate adopts traditional alkaline extraction and crude filtration processes. Collaborating with the factory’s R&D department, HiSiaddi adjusted the entire production process separately for the three grades:
1. Yogurt grade: Optimized low-temperature alkaline hydrolysis temperature and reaction duration, adopted nanofiltration membrane refining to remove small-molecule impurities, and added an ultra-fine spray crushing section to precisely control viscosity within the 120mPa·s range and improve powder dispersion and dissolution performance to solve feeding agglomeration issues.
2. Popping bead grade: Regulated pH value in the acid precipitation stage to enrich guluronic acid G components, extended refined rinsing procedures to strictly control ash content and residual inorganic salts, and accelerate calcium crosslinking film-forming speed and gel compactness.
3. Pudding grade: Slow temperature control in the neutralization section to balance M/G structure, delay calcium ion crosslinking rate to achieve gentle gelation, and avoid rapid hardening and sticky mouthfeel of finished products. The factory temporarily split a 5-ton test production line, which was no longer mixed with general bulk production to ensure stable indicators without cross-contamination among the three customized gel grades.
1. First round: HiSiaddi coordinated the factory to produce 5kg gradient samples for each grade (3 parameter gradients per product). English COA and raw material traceability documents were air-shipped to Switzerland alongside samples for small-scale testing in the client’s laboratory.
2. Second round: Viscosity and G proportion were fine-tuned based on feedback from Switzerland, followed by secondary sample production and testing to optimize dissolution rate and gel performance.
3. Final version: After three rounds of sampling, all physical and chemical indicators of the three products fully met standards, and accelerated shelf-life tests in the client’s laboratory all passed. Yogurt showed no whey separation after 90 days of refrigeration, popping beads remained intact without liquid leakage for 6 months, and pudding forming and mouthfeel met requirements.
500kg pilot batches were produced for each customized sodium alginate grade and shipped to the Swiss factory for 3 consecutive days of full industrial trial production. No abnormalities occurred in feeding, homogenization and filling across the entire production line. The defective rate of finished products dropped from 23.6% with general-grade gel to below 0.5%.
