Purchaser: GERMANY CLEARPLAST GmbH Located in the New Material Industrial Park of Bavaria, Germany, the company has 27 years of experience in producing high-end high-transmittance PC optical profiles, transparent protective covers for precision instruments and outdoor high-end daylighting extrusion panels. Its products are supplied exclusively to German precision equipment manufacturers, Nordic high-end greenhouse engineering groups and EU medical device accessory manufacturers. Raw materials have long matched original UV360 from BASF and Ciba, with an annual UV360 procurement volume of 36 tons. Products comply with EU REACH, RoHS and LFGB food contact compliance standards, with mandatory panel requirements including low haze, no precipitation under high-temperature extrusion and low yellowing after 3000h xenon lamp aging, qualifying it as a mid-to-high-end client with strict material indicators.
Against the backdrop of annual price hikes of European additives and extended delivery lead time of up to 120 days for imported original products, the client launched a domestic UV360 substitution project. The client independently sampled and tested five major domestic UV360 manufacturers including Rianlon, Beijing Tianguang, Weihai Jinwei, Jiangxi Kerun and Nanjing Deweiqi. However, a common industry challenge emerged: sales representatives of each factory only promoted their own grades, avoided objective elaboration of advantages and disadvantages of peer products while solely highlighting their own strengths and concealing defects. The client was unable to conduct horizontal comparisons of purity, particle size, thermal weight loss, impurity content and applicable scenarios of products from different brands. Physical and chemical parameter labels of five samples received from five manufacturers varied widely, and lab test data from German laboratories showed inconsistent results. Some samples suffered panel crystalline spots, high-temperature blooming and excessive aging yellowing, leaving the client unable to distinguish whether faults stemmed from incorrect grade selection or process issues, halting material selection for nearly one month. Upon recommendation by the German Plastics Industry Association, the client entrusted HiSiaddi to deliver neutral third-party brand evaluation and grade screening services.
Drawing on additive industry databases and third-party physical and chemical testing, HiSiaddi conducted item-by-item analysis of physical properties, application defects and applicable scenarios for two mainstream models (generic industrial grade + high-end refined grade) of each of the five domestic top brands, maintaining full neutrality by elaborating both strengths and drawbacks to break the information barrier of self-promotion by single manufacturers. Detailed information of the five brands is as follows:
· Model ①: RIASORB UV-360 (Generic Refined Grade): Purity 98.5%, thermal weight loss ≤0.35%, powder D50≈12μm Strengths: Stable mass production with minor batch fluctuations, excellent synergistic performance when compounded with hindered amines Defects: Shortage of ultra-fine specifications, prone to slight uneven dispersion in high-transmittance optical PC, caution advised for light-colored panels
· Model ②: RIASORB UV-360-O (Optical Special High-purity Grade): Purity ≥99.7%, double recrystallization, low-temperature gas grinding D50≤5μm, low residual solvent Strengths: Compatible with high-transmittance PC and food-grade panels, thermal weight loss ≤0.18% Defects: High unit price, minimum order quantity of 5 tons, delivery lead time of 18 days
· Model ①: TG-UV360 Industrial Grade: Purity 98.2%, outstanding cost performance with large-volume spot supply Strengths: High-temperature extrusion resistance, suitable for general modified PC and modified nylon Defects: High trace by-product content, prone to yellowing after long-term aging for light-colored optical panels, coarse particle size D50≈19μm
· Model ②: TG-UV360-HP High-purity Refined Grade: Optimized impurity control via refining purification Strengths: Cost-effective high-end domestic grade, flexible supply with split orders available Defects: Limited production capacity for ultra-fine powder, slow production scheduling for large-volume orders
· Model ①: JW-360 Generic Grade: Mainly supplied to foreign trade general plastic market with obvious price advantages Strengths: Sufficient large-volume spot inventory, basic weathering performance meets standards Defects: High solvent residue, trace precipitation under processing temperature above 270℃, unsuitable for ultra-thin optical PC sheets
· Model ②: JW-360-E Export Refined Grade: Targeted at mid-range engineering plastics in Southeast Asia Strengths: Complete REACH pre-registration, flexible small-batch delivery Defects: Mass production of high-purity optical grades not launched, unable to effectively meet LFGB food contact migration requirements
· Model ①: KR-UV360 Conventional Grade: Mainly supplied to domestic modified plastic market Strengths: Strong formula compatibility, compatible with PP and POM Defects: Uneven powder uniformity, prone to microcrystalline spots in high-transmittance PC
· Model ②: KR-UV360-S Custom Refined Grade: Adjustable particle size on demand Strengths: Support small-batch modification customization Defects: Insufficient stability of large-scale mass production with minor fluctuations in batch indicators
· Model ①: DWQ-360 National Standard Industrial Grade: Mainly applied to coatings and general plastics Strengths: Low price, sufficient spot supply Defects: Maximum purity of 98.3% with high impurity content, inapplicable for optical PC
· Model ②: DWQ-360-P Refined Grade: Mid-range refined product Strengths: Fast delivery for small and medium batches Defects: Average thermal weight loss indicators, unable to effectively adapt to high-temperature extrusion above 285℃
The client’s product lines fall into three categories: ① High-transmittance optical PC precision protective covers (food-grade, high light transmittance, strict low precipitation requirements); ② Outdoor thick-wall daylighting PC profiles (high-temperature extrusion, large-volume mass production); ③ Economical modified PC accessories (conventional weather resistance, cost control). HiSiaddi eliminated Jinwei, Kerun and Deweiqi with obvious performance defects, locked two domestic mid-to-high-end brands Rianlon and Beijing Tianguang, and matched three differentiated grades to three production lines respectively:
1. Rianlon RIASORB UV-360-O (Optical High-purity Grade): Dedicated to Category ① food-grade high-transmittance optical PC precision protective covers, fully meeting mandatory indicators including LFGB compliance, low crystalline spots and low precipitation
2. Beijing Tianguang TG-UV360-HP (HP High-purity Refined Grade): Dedicated to Category ② outdoor thick-wall daylighting PC profiles, balancing high-temperature extrusion resistance and mass production stability with optimized procurement cost
3. Rianlon RIASORB UV-360 Generic Refined UV-360: Dedicated to Category ③ economical modified PC accessories to control raw material costs while meeting EU weathering standards
HiSiaddi coordinated free delivery of 25kg samples from each of the two manufacturers under unified testing standards. The client’s laboratory incorporated each sample into its three proprietary formula systems and completed full tests covering light transmittance, 3000h xenon lamp aging, 285℃ high-temperature precipitation and food migration:
· Rianlon UV360-O: Optical panel light transmittance 92.07%, aging ΔE=0.62, free of blooming and crystalline spots, fully passing LFGB testing
· Tianguang TG-UV360-HP: No die precipitation during 72-hour continuous extrusion of thick-wall profiles with qualified weathering indicators
· Rianlon Generic UV360: All mass production indicators qualified for economical accessories
All three samples passed full-dimensional client acceptance, eliminating all models from the other three brands.
The client split the first order for procurement: 8 tons of Rianlon UV360-O, 12 tons of Rianlon Generic UV360, 10 tons of Tianguang TG-UV360-HP, totaling 30 tons shipped to Germany in three batches after customs declaration at Shanghai Port. HiSiaddi simultaneously provided supporting services including REACH filing, bilingual SDS, GHS compliance labels and third-party test reports.
1. Annual framework signing: After qualified production of the first batch of goods, an annual procurement framework for 36 tons of UV360 was finalized, with fixed monthly split delivery of the three grades. Comprehensive raw material procurement cost dropped by 29.3% compared with imported original products, and delivery lead time was shortened from 120 days to 32 days.
2. Permanent new product material selection trusteeship: The client fully entrusted HiSiaddi with raw material selection for its upcoming ultra-thin optical PC film, including pre-sample evaluation and grade screening for new additives.
3. Manufacturer optimization & upgrading: Supported by measured data from high-end German end users, Rianlon and Tianguang optimized process parameters of corresponding grades, and secured orders from two additional high-end PC manufacturers in Austria and Switzerland via HiSiaddi.
1. Domestic UV360 manufacturers generally only promote their own products and avoid objective elaboration of peer advantages due to sales interests. Overseas mid-to-high-end clients lack industry information reserves for domestic additives, and independent contact with factories easily leads to incorrect grade selection and mass production scrapping losses.
2. Core neutral value of HiSiaddi: Stand apart from single manufacturer sales stances to conduct horizontal cross-brand parameter comparison, carry out targeted graded material selection combined with end-user product application scenarios and avoid sample testing costs for clients.
3. Mid-to-high-end European and American plastic clients demand integrated services including neutral grade evaluation, application matching and compliance support, which constitute core service advantages unavailable from single raw material manufacturers.
