SwissSeal AG is located in the Zurich High-Tech Chemical Park, a mid-to-high-end precision electronic supporting enterprise in Europe specializing in sensor potting RTV adhesives, circuit board moisture-proof sealing adhesives and precision instrument neutral silicone rubber, supplying ABB Switzerland and Schneider European branches. All raw materials comply with EU REACH, RoHS and IEC electronic component material specifications, with an annual procurement volume of 172 tons of vinyl tributanone oxime silane. Previously, the enterprise purchased high-end crosslinkers imported from Germany all year round.
Affected by rising prices of European chemical raw materials and lead times extended to 130 days, the customer launched a localized procurement research project in China to screen mid-to-high-end raw materials as substitutes for imported grades. In the early stage, the customer independently contacted five major domestic leading silane manufacturers: Hubei Xintianlan, Nanjing SiSiB, Hangzhou Guibao, Jiangsu Aikewei and Hubei Xingfa for inquiry and sample delivery. However, business teams of all manufacturers centered on recommending their own products: each manufacturer only elaborated on the advantages, factory exit indicators, production capacity and delivery cycles of its own grades, and deliberately avoided analyzing competing brands’ superior parameters, applicable scenarios and disadvantageous characteristics without maliciously belittling peers. The customer received 8 samples from 5 brands and 5 unilateral product brochures with inconsistent marking of purity, free oxime and color indicators, mixed national standards and enterprise standards. Lacking reserves of domestic organosilicon industry information, the customer’s R&D team could not distinguish general industrial grades from mid-to-high-end refined grades, leading to two problems during independent small trials: severe yellowing of finished adhesives when adopting Xintianlan D-90 general grade and out-of-control curing speed when adopting SiSiB conventional grade. Four consecutive rounds of formula small trials failed with sample testing defective rate exceeding 17%, trapping procurement in a model selection deadlock.
The customer abandoned separate contact with factories and fully entrusted HiSiaddi to conduct full-process neutral model selection services including horizontal evaluation of domestic brands, parameter benchmarking, scenario matching screening and optimal model recommendation, requiring screening of matching mid-to-high-end grades from the five major brands based on its precision electronic adhesive formula working conditions to finalize purchased products.
Relying on organosilicon industry databases and actual measurement data from CNAS third-party institutions, HiSiaddi’s technical team disassembled the product positioning, parameters, advantages, disadvantages and applicable fields of flagship grades of the five major brands one by one against the customer’s rigid indicators for electronic sealing adhesives: main content ≥98.0%, free butanone oxime ≤0.35%, Hazen color ≤20, no yellowing or delamination after 6 months of storage and compatibility with 1:9 compound mixing system of methyl oxime silane, forming a neutral comparison file without bias toward any manufacturer:
Flagship Grades: D-90 General Industrial Grade, D-90H High-Purity Refined Grade
· D-90: Content 94.5%~95.5%, free oxime 1.0%~1.5%. Mainly used for architectural glass adhesives and low-end industrial sealing adhesives. Advantages: large production capacity, sufficient spot goods and low unit price; Disadvantages: high impurity content, prone to discoloration during long-term storage, unsuitable for high-end electronic adhesives.
· D-90H: High-end refined grade with content ≥98.3% and free oxime ≤0.32%, adopting two-stage rectification technology with low impurities and narrow molecular weight distribution. Advantages: excellent aging resistance and strong formula compatibility; Disadvantages: high minimum order quantity and higher price than general grades.
Flagship Grades: PC7500 Conventional Grade, VT8020 Compound Modified Grade
· PC7500: Benchmark grade with content 96.5%~97.2% and free oxime 0.6%~0.8%, mainly for general export sealing adhesives and compatible with conventional single-component RTV. Advantages: complete export compliance documents including SDS and REACH filings; Disadvantages: high free oxime content making curing rates difficult to control after compound mixing.
· VT8020: Custom compound grade of vinyl oxime + tetrabutanone oxime after refined purification, with converted effective vinyl component content ≥98.1% and free oxime ≤0.30%, specially developed for high-end electronic and new energy adhesives with excellent formula compatibility.
Flagship Grades: HG-VOS National Standard High-Grade Product, HG-VOS-P High-Purity Electronic Grade
· HG-VOS: National standard high-grade product with 95.8% content and 0.85% free oxime, focusing on domestic building material adhesive market with high cost performance.
· HG-VOS-P: Electronic special refined grade with deep adsorption impurity removal, heavy metal and chloride ion content <7 ppm, suitable for precision electronic sealing with stable color ≤18 Hazen.
Flagship Grades: EK-VOS Industrial Grade, EK-VOS-E High-End Refined Grade Products feature broad molecular weight distribution. General grades deliver prominent cost advantages, while high-end grades have small production capacity with flexible small-batch customization but long delivery cycles for mass orders.
Flagship Grades: XF-VOS General Grade, XF-VOS-H Refined Grade Relying on self-owned upstream butanone oxime raw materials with controllable raw material costs and strong stability of mass bulk production. However, high-end refined grades impose high minimum order thresholds with low priority for small-batch sample production scheduling.
Combined with the customer’s precision electronic sealing adhesive formula, production processes and stringent testing standards of terminal products, HiSiaddi eliminated brands with obvious shortcomings item by item:
1. Eliminated Xintianlan D-90 general grade, all Aikewei series and Xingfa refined grade: Conventional Xintianlan D90 exceeds impurity limits and cannot meet aging resistance requirements; insufficient mass supply stability of Aikewei high-end grades cannot guarantee the customer’s stable annual stocking of 172 tons; high minimum order quantity of Xingfa high-end grades exceeds the customer’s annual batch procurement planning with uncontrollable production scheduling cycles. Samples of the three brands are only retained for reference and excluded from official procurement lists.
Two major mid-to-high-end high-quality brands were finalized in the end: Nanjing SiSiB and Hangzhou Guibao, totaling 3 precisely matching grades:
1. PC7500-H High-Purity Upgraded Grade: 98.4% content, 0.31% free oxime, mainly used for the customer’s main product line – general circuit board moisture-proof sealing adhesives with stable compound curing and compatibility with automatic mass production glue filling.
2. VT8020 Modified Compound Grade: Precisely proportioned refined vinyl oxime and tetrabutanone oxime, specially used for high-end sensor potting adhesives to resolve low-temperature bonding cracking pain points, compatible with the customer’s high-value precision instrument adhesive production line.
HG-VOS-P High-Purity Electronic Grade: 98.6% content, 0.28% free oxime, adopting full-process closed rectification + activated carbon impurity removal with qualified heavy metal impurities, exclusively supplied to the customer’s military-grade precision electronic component sealing adhesives with optimal storage stability and no yellowing or oil bleeding during long-term warehousing.
1. Gradient Sample Delivery & Testing: HiSiaddi coordinated the two factories to provide 5 kg small samples each, accompanied by third-party full COA test reports and English-German SDS compliance documents, airfreighted to Swiss laboratories in three batches: PC7500-H for general adhesive small trials, VT8020 for sensor adhesives and HG-VOS-P for high-end electronic component adhesives. After 500-hour accelerated high-temperature aging and -40℃ cold-heat cycling testing by the customer, all three raw materials matched the original imported raw material formulas, with no yellowing, premature curing or interfacial debonding of finished adhesives, and small trial defective rate dropped from 17% to 0.28%. The R&D department issued a product qualification confirmation letter.
2. Phased Mass Procurement Implementation: The customer’s first trial procurement totaled 32 tons (18 tons SiSiB PC7500-H, 9 tons VT8020, 5 tons Hangzhou Guibao HG-VOS-P). Goods adopted IBC totes lined with aluminum foil for moisture-proof packaging. HiSiaddi uniformly sorted full sets of REACH and CLP customs clearance documents, shipped from Shanghai Port direct to Zurich and cleared customs smoothly upon arrival in one go.
3. Long-Term Framework Implementation: After the first trial order passed verification, the customer finalized an annual framework order of 172 tons delivered in four quarterly batches. SiSiB’s two products accounted for 76% of annual procurement volume, and Hangzhou Guibao’s high-purity grade accounted for 24%. Compared with original German imported procurement, localized procurement costs decreased by 31.2%, and delivery lead time was shortened from 130 days to 42 days.
Subsequently, SwissSeal AG entrusted HiSiaddi with full responsibility for model selection and sample delivery of all raw materials including methyl tributanone oxime silane and phenyl oxime silane. Leveraging this neutral model selection case, HiSiaddi successfully contacted another two mid-to-high-end electronic sealing adhesive customers in Switzerland.
