NaturaSelect is a German mid-to-high-end cosmetic and pharmaceutical enterprise with 26 years of experience in dermatological repair products. All its products comply with EP European Pharmacopoeia, EU CE cosmetic safety specifications and full REACH registration standards. Three formula systems are adopted: pH3.2~3.6 acidic repair essence, oil-in-water cream, and infant cream compounded with VC derivatives, requiring three types of allantoin with differentiated physical & chemical indicators. Annual total procurement volume ranges from 12 to 14 tons. During initial independent communication with 5 domestic leading allantoin manufacturers (Shandong Jinyang, Jiangsu Caiwei, Zhejiang Huangma, Shandong Xinhua Pharmaceutical, Jiangsu Meisite), the client encountered common industry-wide problems:
1. Each manufacturer only promotes its own advantages without objective evaluation of competitors: Sales teams only elaborate on their own purity, production processes and capacity, responding "processes vary by manufacturer and no comment on competitors" when asked about competitors, without providing horizontal comparative data on inherent advantages of rival products for specific formulas.
2. Client lacks domestic raw material database and cannot distinguish differences between grades: Domestic allantoin is divided into pharmaceutical high-purity grade, general cosmetic grade and ultrafine crystal modified grade. Impurity content, crystal form and solubility vary drastically between different grades of the same brand. Long-term use of standardized European raw materials leaves the client unfamiliar with domestic grade naming rules, resulting in high sample testing costs and long cycles for blind trials.
3. Manufacturers prioritize high-margin bulk standard products instead of precise matching per client formulas: Some large manufacturers push standard national standard allantoin to digest mass stock, deliberately avoiding high-end modified grades suitable for weak acid / VC-compounded formulas. The client encountered essence crystallization, cream yellowing and cream demulsification in 6 previous sample tests, consuming 2 months and over 4,200 Euros on air freight samples without valid results. The client fully entrusted HiSiaddi, a neutral third-party service provider, to conduct horizontal evaluation of mainstream domestic manufacturers and deliver objective selection assessments.
Equipped with cosmetic raw material engineers, HiSiaddi collected COA test reports, process documents and terminal formula test data of all manufacturers, sorting brand positioning, core grades, strengths, weaknesses and applicable formula scenarios for each brand, and delivered a German version selection manual to the client’s R&D department:
· Core Grades: JA-990 General Cosmetic Grade, JA-998 Pharmaceutical High-Purity Grade
· Strengths: Large mass production capacity, stable supply chain, cost-effective standard national standard products; good emulsification dispersion of coarse crystal grades suitable for mass production of ordinary creams & lotions.
· Weaknesses: High free aldehyde and free ammonia impurities in standard grades, no refined aldehyde removal modified production lines. Unsuitable for VC-compounded infant formulas and weak acid essence formulas; only applicable to basic body lotions and low-cost daily care products.
· Core Grades: WJ-PH Low-Acid Stable Grade, WJ-UF Ultrafine Powder Pharmaceutical Grade
· Strengths: Molecular-level purification with total impurities <0.08%. WJ-PH retains over 92% activity under pH3~5 weak acid environments; WJ-UF 800-mesh ultrafine powder dissolves at low temperature without precipitation, with residual aldehydes ≤2ppm, perfectly matching acidic essence and VC-compounded infant cream.
· Weaknesses: Limited production capacity for customized high-end grades, unit price 18% higher than standard bulk materials, slightly longer lead time for mass stock preparation.
· Core Grades: RM-C Cosmetic Refined Grade, RM-M Microcrystalline Slow-Release Grade
· Strengths: Uniform powder particle size; excellent slow-release performance of RM-M microcrystalline crystals with strong cream forming capacity after emulsification, mainly used for creams and ointments. Own 100,000-class clean workshops with SGS test reports attached to all batches.
· Weaknesses: Limited types of ultrafine powder grades, average solubility in weak acid systems, unsuitable for high-dosage acidic essence.
· Core Grades: XH-Y Pharmacopoeia Pharmaceutical Grade (Compliant with EP Pharmacopoeia)
· Strengths: Strict pharmaceutical quality control system, heavy metal indicators far below national standards, complete raw material traceability, suitable for pharmaceutical ointments and offline external preparations.
· Weaknesses: Mainly conventional crystal particles without ultrafine crushing modified specifications, prone to precipitation of essence under low temperature, scarce segmented modified grades.
· Core Grades: MS-HP Ultra-High Purity 99.95% Grade
· Strengths: Top-tier purity in the industry with extremely low impurity content, physical & chemical indicators nearly identical to original German CLR products.
· Weaknesses: High pricing and high minimum order threshold, focusing on small-batch high-end customization, unsuitable for regular ton-level mass procurement.
Combining the client’s three formulas (acidic essence, infant VC cream, offline repair cream), Shandong Jinyang (only for low-end daily care) and Jiangsu Meisite (high minimum order cost) were eliminated. Two mid-to-high-end manufacturers – Jiangsu Caiwei and Zhejiang Huangma – were finalized with three dedicated grades corresponding to client formulas:
1. Jiangsu Caiwei WJ-UF Ultrafine Powder Allantoin (Exclusive for pH3.2~3.6 Weak Acid Repair Essence): Resolve cold storage crystallization of essence via low impurities and superior low-temperature solubility, annual procurement of 4.7 tons.
2. Jiangsu Caiwei WJ-PH Low-Aldehyde Modified Allantoin (Exclusive for VC-Compounded Infant Repair Cream): Free aldehydes ≤2ppm to block oxidative yellowing reactions with VC, annual procurement of 3.9 tons.
3. Zhejiang Huangma RM-M Microcrystalline Slow-Release Allantoin (Exclusive for Offline Oil-in-Water Repair Cream): Microcrystalline crystals boost cream stability to eliminate emulsification stratification and cracking, annual procurement of 3.9 tons.
Eliminated Brand Remark: Shandong Xinhua Pharmaceutical meets quality standards of pharmacopoeia but lacks ultrafine powder modified grades matching essence formulas, listed as alternative backup supplier for future new product expansion.
1. Three Rounds of Transnational Sample Evaluation: HiSiaddi coordinated air shipment of 5kg samples per specification from two manufacturers to German R&D laboratories. Full stability tests (6-month normal temperature storage, 45℃ accelerated test, 5℃ low-temperature test) were conducted. The three raw materials fully matched physical & chemical performance of original imported German CLR products without crystallization, yellowing or demulsification defects.
2. 500kg Small-Batch Pilot Production: 500kg trial orders for each grade were produced, replicating formal production processes across German full production lines, with all EU cosmetic safety assessments passed.
3. Batched Shipment: The full-year 12.5-ton order was split into 8 batches, shipped from Shanghai Port to Hamburg Port with full batch COA, REACH registration documents and SGS test reports provided by HiSiaddi for seamless customs clearance and warehousing.
1. Comprehensive procurement cost of allantoin decreased by 31% after localization compared with original German imported products. Trans-European ocean transit lead time was shortened from 45 days to 18 days.
2. Three core skincare products launched on German premium pharmacies as scheduled, with a 15-ton annual long-term contract renewed the following year, plus new customized demand for plant-based modified allantoin selection.
3. A proprietary raw material selection archive was built based on the domestic allantoin brand database sorted by HiSiaddi, enabling independent rapid screening for future raw material procurement.
1. Secured stable long-term orders from benchmark European mid-to-high-end cosmetic brands, achieving a 27% export premium for high-end modified grades and escaping price competition of standard domestic bulk allantoin.
2. Leveraging this German brand cooperation case, supply chains for similar offline skincare clients in the Netherlands and Austria were successfully developed.
1. Established a selection database covering five mainstream domestic allantoin manufacturers and segmented grades, categorized by three application scenarios: daily chemical, pharmaceutical and infant care.
2. Standardized neutral third-party raw material selection services: Demand decomposition → horizontal multi-brand evaluation → precise grade matching → sample follow-up → order delivery. Subsequent raw material screening projects were undertaken for multiple mid-to-high-end skincare brands in Northern Europe and Switzerland.
1. Industry Pain Points: Domestic allantoin manufacturers prioritize their own product interests, only promoting internal strengths and avoiding explanation of rival product advantages for specific scenarios. Overseas mid-to-high-end clients lack understanding of domestic grade classification logic, and independent communication with manufacturers easily leads to procurement of mismatched standard bulk raw materials, causing formula scrapping and surging trial costs.
2. Procurement Logic of Mid-to-High-End Clients: Formula compatibility, raw material stability and compliance credentials rank first; clients do not take low price as the primary selection standard and are willing to pay reasonable premiums for customized grades matching formulas.
3. Core Value of HiSiaddi: As a third-party foreign trade service provider unbound to raw material production interests, conduct objective horizontal comparison of advantages and disadvantages across multiple brands, avoid blind selection risks for clients by precise screening aligned with formula demands, free from marketing bias of single manufacturers.
