Founded 28 years ago, it specializes in high-end hospital dietary supplements and organic oral nutritional products sold across the UK mainland, Ireland and Wales. Its products are available in premium pharmacy counters of Boots UK, premium zones of Whole Foods national organic supermarkets and ophthalmology nutrition kits in private hospitals, complying with EU Regulation EC1333/2008 on food additives, European Pharmacopoeia standards, BRCGS UK food safety system, KOSHER certification and NOP non-GMO certification. The brand eliminates synthetic beta-carotene entirely and exclusively purchases naturally fermented Blakeslea trispora-grade raw materials, with core product lines covering eye-protecting soft capsules, sustained-release tablets and ambient functional oral liquids. Its stable annual procurement volume of natural beta-carotene totals 29 tons, distinguishing it from low-end buyers purchasing bulk low-cost feed-grade and general food-grade raw materials.
Previously, the brand sourced beta-carotene from DSM of the Netherlands. Plagued by rising domestic raw material prices in Europe and extended delivery lead times up to 75 days, it launched a China-based raw material supply chain development project in 2025, planning to selectively replace partial imported raw materials with domestic leading Chinese brands. All five leading domestic beta-carotene manufacturers possess large-scale fermented mass production capacity with differentiated proprietary technical tracks, yet constrained by corporate operation orientations and sales assessment mechanisms, they universally prioritize promoting their own products over objective analysis of competitors, an industry-wide status quo with three root causes:
1. Sales performance and commission are solely tied to in-house product order volume, eliminating commercial incentives to proactively share technical highlights and applicable advantages of competing brands. Sales teams only briefly mention rival products when directly questioned, avoiding detailed parameter comparison of competing models.
2. Differentiated brand technical routes: Each manufacturer focuses R&D and quality control solely on its own product lines, lacking systematic measured data to horizontally dissect rival strengths and weaknesses: Jiahua prioritizes infant formula and patented microcapsule encapsulation products; Dalian InnoBio specializes in oil suspension technology; Haisifu focuses on nano cold-soluble formulations; Zhejiang Medicine leads in high-purity crystal raw materials; Shandong Tianli Pharmaceutical centers on cost-effective bulk mass-produced products.
3. The client lacks reserves of domestic industry information and authoritative third-party reference data. As a brand deeply rooted in the European dietary market, it is entirely unfamiliar with factory establishment backgrounds, patented technologies, segmented models and terminal application cases of domestic brands. No neutral selection handbook for domestic beta-carotene is publicly available, making model mismatch highly likely when relying solely on unilateral manufacturer introductions.

Combining the client’s production requirements for soft capsules, tablets and oral liquids, EU clean label compliance standards and mid-to-high-end raw material positioning, Zhejiang Medicine (lacking segmented customized dosage forms) and Shandong Tianli Pharmaceutical (formulas failing clean label standards) were eliminated. Two core supply brands – Wuhan Jiahua and Dalian InnoBio – and three mainstream models were finalized to fully match the client’s full-range production demands:
1. 20% CWS high-protein wall material microcapsule powder (tableting-specific): Compound wall material of whey protein isolate + sodium octenyl succinate starch without single maltodextrin carrier; powder angle of repose 28.5°, compatible with the client’s high-speed tablet press; uniform tablet color without delamination after 60 days of accelerated testing at 60°C with low pigment degradation, meeting shelf-life standards for high-end sustained-release tablets, covering the client’s annual 11-ton procurement demand for tableting lines.
2. 5% cold-water soluble emulsified micropowder (alternative oral liquid model): Stable mass supply for regular batches as standby raw material to supplement oral liquid production capacity during peak seasons.
30% non-GMO sunflower oil-based oil suspension (soft capsule-specific): Artificial antioxidant BHT removed, compound natural rosemary antioxidant system adopted; superior compatibility between oil and the client’s gelatin capsule shells, no soft capsule leakage after 60 days of accelerated storage at 40°C with 95.2% retained beta-carotene activity, covering the client’s annual 15-ton procurement volume for soft capsule lines.
The client’s mainstream mass production model for oral liquids selected Xi’an Haisifu’s 5% nano cold-soluble micropowder as a supplementary standby supply source for flexible small-batch restocking, with mass production relying primarily on the two core brands and three models listed above.
HiSiaddi coordinated fine-tuning of samples by the two manufacturers in accordance with the client’s internal control indicators, arranging unified pre-testing via domestic SGS laboratories before dispatching qualified samples to the client’s laboratory in the UK for re-verification. All three samples passed pilot production on the client’s line, completely resolving the three earlier production failures of oil seepage, delamination and precipitation.
The initial trial batch of the three models from the two brands totaled 4.6 tons, shipped in two consignments from Shanghai and Qingdao Ports to London Port, UK. Upon arrival, dual sampling inspection by UK customs and the client’s laboratory yielded one-time compliance of physical, microbial and compliance documents without detention or cargo hold-up. Raw materials from the selected brands boosted finished product yield from the original 70% to 95.7%, enabling the delayed new product line suspended for 45 days to officially launch on high-end pharmacies and organic supermarket shelves across the UK.
