    Purchaser: FRANCE ELEC UV SAS (France Elec New Materials), located in Lyon, France. With 27 years of R&D and production experience focusing on high-end UV sealants for electronic components, UV coatings for optical lenses, and photosensitive inks for PCB circuits, its products are supplied to top European automotive electronics and precision optical brands. The company purchases 52 tons of Irgacure 651 from BASF all year round. Faced with price hikes and extended lead times of up to 90 days from the European original supplier, the client planned to customize a special grade of domestically produced 651, rejecting standard industrial off-the-shelf products available on the market.     Adjust the molar ratio of benzil and sodium methoxide, and conduct segmented temperature-controlled ketalization reactions to reduce isomer impurity generation, controlling by-product content at the source and lowering subsequent purification pressure.

    2. Three-stage gradient composite solvent recrystallization purification (Core Customized Process)

    Abandoning the industry’s single ethanol one-step rough purification process, ethanol-isopropanol composite solvents are adopted for three-stage temperature-lowering recrystallization to separate colored impurities and unreacted raw materials layer by layer. The product purity was lifted to 99.88%, with single impurity controlled within 72ppm, meeting the ultra-high purity requirements.

    3. Low-temperature negative pressure vacuum drying to strictly limit solvent residue

    Conventional hot air drying equipment was replaced with closed low-temperature negative pressure drying units to remove residual organic solvents at low temperatures. The measured total solvent residue of finished products reached 36ppm, far below the client’s critical limit of <50ppm, eliminating foggy spot defects in adhesive liquid.

    4. Low-temperature airflow ultra-fine pulverization to regulate crystal fineness

    Crystallized finished products undergo inert gas-protected low-temperature airflow pulverization and sieving classification, yielding finished products with D50 ranging from 3.2 to 3.8μm. The loose powder dissolves rapidly in acrylic resin at room temperature, resolving caking and precipitation issues. Meanwhile, the refined formula was slightly adjusted to reduce trace yellowing-causing impurities. Accelerated aging testing of optical coatings at 85℃ for 72 hours demonstrated far superior yellowing index compared to standard 651, fulfilling the low-yellowing customization target.
