HiSiaddi conducted neutral horizontal evaluation of 5 major domestic brands and selected 2 mid-to-high-end leading manufacturers with 3 grades for bulk procurement
The cooperating client, SwiTech Precision AG, is located in the precision manufacturing industrial park in Zurich, Switzerland. It is a long-established European precision equipment manufacturer specializing in high-end hydraulic valve assemblies, precision instrument insulation bases, and chemical corrosion-resistant pump body fittings, supplying ABB and Sulzer Industrial Group in Switzerland. Its products comply with Switzerland’s VSM plastic standard, EU REACH, UL94, and IEC tracking resistance vehicle-grade material specifications, with an annual PPS raw material procurement volume of 260 tons. It previously sourced imported PPS raw materials from Toray (Japan) and Celanese (USA) long-term.
Triggered by surging overseas raw material prices, extended international lead times exceeding 90 days, and raised minimum order quantity thresholds from original manufacturers, the enterprise launched a localized Chinese raw material replacement project. The client independently contacted five leading domestic PPS manufacturers: NHU, Kingfa Science & Technology, Bluestar Chengrand, Laiwu Steel Teda, and Sichuan Keli.
Sales teams from each factory only promoted their own product advantages; while they objectively introduced parameter specifications of their own models without malicious slander of competitors, all avoided objective elaboration of rivals’ strengths. NHU prioritized its self-produced linear resin PPS without mentioning Kingfa’s advantages in vehicle-grade modified formulas; Kingfa emphasized mass production scale without explaining Bluestar Chengrand’s strengths in special low-outgassing grades; the remaining three manufacturers similarly only promoted their own products unilaterally. This left the client unable to conduct horizontal benchmarking to distinguish application scenarios, performance gaps, and price tiers of each brand. After sampling 8 different grades for prototype molding tests, differentiated defects emerged including excessive molding shrinkage, high-temperature precipitation, and substandard acid & alkali resistance, with sample testing input costs exceeding 23,000 Swiss Francs and stalled material selection progress.
Upon recommendation by the Swiss Chemical Materials Association, SwiTech entrusted Shanghai HiSiaddi Technology (HiSiaddi) as a neutral third-party foreign trade service provider. Leveraging HiSiaddi’s team of material engineers, the team horizontally disassembled mainstream mid-to-high-end grades from the five brands, objectively compared their strengths and weaknesses, and precisely screened 2 manufacturers and 3 finalized grades matching the working conditions of the client’s three types of components to complete localized procurement implementation.
Product: Glass fiber reinforced and mineral-filled high-purity modified PPS pellets, HS code 3907999000, export packaging with 25kg moisture-proof kraft paper bags lined with aluminum foil film.
The client simultaneously developed three categories of precision components with corresponding PPS material selection criteria, forming the core basis for material selection:
1. Hydraulic valve insulation frame (GF40 glass fiber reinforced PPS): 40% alkali-free glass fiber reinforcement, heat deflection temperature ≥268°C, UL94 V-0, water absorption <0.03% after 1000-hour immersion in 150°C high-temperature hydraulic oil, molding shrinkage ≤0.26%, zero glass fiber blooming and small-molecule precipitation oil seepage.
2. Chemical pump valve housing (glass-mineral composite filled PPS): 30% glass fiber + mineral composite filling, strong resistance to strong acid and alkali corrosion, warpage <0.13mm after 100 temperature cycles between -35°C and 145°C, suitable for precision pump body sealing tolerance requirements.
3. Precision instrument base (high-purity unreinforced neat PPS resin): Linear high-purity base material, low small-molecule precipitation (oligomer <90ppm), low dielectric constant, high dimensional stability, used for internal insulating parts of precision testing instruments.
HiSiaddi’s procurement engineers collaborated with polymer laboratories to uniformly sample mainstream mid-to-high-end grades from NHU, Kingfa, Bluestar Chengrand, Laiwu Steel Teda, and Sichuan Keli. All samples were sent to third-party laboratories for full testing including DSC, thermogravimetry, rheology, and corrosion resistance, generating bilingual Chinese-English horizontal evaluation reports objectively listing strengths and weaknesses of each manufacturer:
1.
NHU (China’s full-industry-chain PPS leader with self-owned resin polymerization facilities) Core grades: NH-GF40, NH-MF30, NH-PURE linear neat resin ✅ Advantages: Self-synthesized linear high-purity PPS base material with low small-molecule impurity content, top domestic stability of neat resin grades, outstanding chemical corrosion resistance, suitable for pump valves and high-purity instrument components. ❌ Disadvantages: Glass fiber modified grades focus on general industrial part mass production with weak formula optimization for precision thin-wall injection molding; moderate bulk pricing but high fees for small-batch sample testing.
2.
3.
Kingfa Science & Technology (China’s leading modified plastics manufacturer with profound vehicle-grade modification experience) Core grades: KF-GF40, KF-MF30, KF-PPS natural neat resin ✅ Advantages: Complete IATF16949 vehicle-grade quality system, mature glass fiber activation and filler dispersion processes. GF40 glass fiber reinforced grades deliver excellent creep resistance and oil immersion resistance, perfectly matching precision injection molding of hydraulic valves, with stable ten-thousand-ton mass production capacity and controllable lead times. ❌ Disadvantages: Limited self-owned PPS resin production capacity; some general grades adopt outsourced base materials; slightly inferior high-purity unreinforced neat resin performance compared with NHU; limited optional specifications for special corrosion-resistant grades.
4.
5.
Bluestar Chengrand (Central SOE with research institute background, originating from military special PPS manufacturing) Core grades: CG-GF40 special flame retardant, CG high-purity low-outgassing neat PPS ✅ Advantages: Top domestic technology for low-precipitation halogen-free flame retardant special formulas with aerospace-grade quality control. ❌ Disadvantages: Focused on small-batch military customization with high mass production quotations; tight capacity and long lead times for conventional glass-mineral filled grades, unsuitable for the client’s year-round bulk mass procurement.
6.
7.
Laiwu Steel Teda (Affiliated with Shandong Iron & Steel, specializing in high-temperature heavy-load PPS) Core grades: LT-GF40 high-rigidity heavy-duty grade ✅ Advantages: Outstanding strengths in high-filling high-rigidity modification and superior performance under high-temperature working conditions. ❌ Disadvantages: Crude formulas for mineral-filled grades with large internal molding stress; insufficient control of warpage under temperature cycling for precision small parts, mismatched with the client’s precision tolerance requirements for instruments and pump valves.
8.
9.
Sichuan Keli (Military high-purity linear resin manufacturer specializing in special high-temperature base materials) Core grades: KL high-purity linear PPS resin ✅ Advantages: Extremely high resin cyclization rate with heat resistance up to 272°C. ❌ Disadvantages: Focused on external sales of base resin raw materials with incomplete supporting downstream modified grades requiring outsourced modification, creating multi-link supply chains and weak delivery stability, unsuitable for one-stop procurement.
10.
Based on the client’s core demands of simultaneous bulk mass production of three product categories, balanced performance & lead time, and lower costs than imported materials, Bluestar Chengrand, Laiwu Steel Teda, and Sichuan Keli were eliminated (either high mass production costs, unqualified precision performance, or unstable supply chains). Two leading domestic mid-to-high-end manufacturers – NHU and Kingfa – were selected with three finalized fixed grades:
1. Kingfa KF-GF40 (40% glass fiber reinforced) → exclusively for hydraulic valve insulation frames Leveraging Kingfa’s mature glass fiber activation modification process, the material delivers excellent oil immersion resistance and low shrinkage, perfectly meeting the long-term hydraulic oil immersion working conditions of valve parts with stable mass production delivery.
2. NHU NH-MF30 (glass-mineral composite filled) → exclusively for chemical pump valve housings Backed by NHU’s self-owned high-purity linear base material, the material features outstanding acid & alkali corrosion resistance and controllable warpage under temperature cycling, matching chemical anti-corrosion working conditions.
3. NHU NH-PURE high-purity linear neat PPS → exclusively for precision instrument insulation bases China’s top low-precipitation neat resin with oligomer content of 82ppm, matching the indicator standards of Toray’s high-purity raw materials, satisfying stringent low-dielectric and zero-precipitation requirements for precision instruments.
1. HiSiaddi coordinated free supply of 25kg samples from both manufacturers, uniformly packed and shipped to the client’s laboratory in Switzerland for third-party testing. All three grades fully passed compliance testing of VSM, REACH, and UL standards.
2. HiSiaddi mediated unified price negotiation. Leveraging centralized procurement advantages, the comprehensive unit purchase price of two modified grades plus one neat resin decreased by 27.3% compared with the client’s original imported Celanese raw materials, with delivery lead times compressed to 32~38 days.
3. HiSiaddi completed REACH-SVHC notification and Swiss CHEMREACH compliance filing as a unified agent, issued bilingual SDS safety documents, and standardized GHS export packaging uniformly.
The client issued an initial two-batch trial order totaling 62 tons: 30 tons of Kingfa KF-GF40, 20 tons of NHU NH-MF30, and 12 tons of NHU NH-PURE, shipped in separate consignments from Shanghai Port to Zurich, Switzerland. After raw materials were put into automated injection molding lines, the average yield of the three categories of components rose from 63% during preliminary sample testing to 98.5%. All products passed incoming material audits of ABB and Sulzer, successfully replacing imported raw materials.
Three months after material selection implementation, SwiTech signed an annual framework procurement agreement with HiSiaddi, locking in an annual procurement volume of 245 tons with fixed adoption of the above two manufacturers and three grades, with balanced monthly batch production and delivery. Later, the client raised new R&D demand for high-temperature wear-resistant pump body fittings, continuing to entrust HiSiaddi to screen special wear-resistant modified PPS grades among domestic leading manufacturers.
Backed by this benchmark material selection case for a Swiss high-end precision manufacturing enterprise, HiSiaddi leveraged the client’s European industrial network resources to successively connect with three precision equipment manufacturers in the Netherlands and Austria, replicating the service model of "neutral multi-brand evaluation + precise material matching" to deliver multiple batches of PPS material selection and mass production orders.
Restricted by business orientation, most leading domestic PPS manufacturers focus on promoting their own products and lack willingness to objectively introduce cross-brand advantages, forming the biggest pain point for high-end overseas clients pursuing localized material selection. High-end foreign end clients prioritize raw material performance matching, supply chain stability, and full-chain compliance, and cannot complete material selection relying solely on one manufacturer’s one-sided promotion.
Breaking away from the traditional trade model limited to promoting self-owned raw materials, HiSiaddi acted as a neutral third party to horizontally evaluate strengths and weaknesses of mainstream domestic brands and match grades precisely based on end-product working conditions. It helped clients avoid material selection pitfalls and cut raw material costs, while deeply binding high-end European end clients through professional material selection services, achieving win-win results for both supply and demand sides.
