Please contact HiSiaddi customer service if you require more comparative analysis of brands and models.
The purchasing client is RoyalGrease, a high-end food group headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, specializing in cold-pressed sunflower oil, premium nut baking oil and infant supplementary refined vegetable oil. Its products are sold in boutique supermarkets and chain baking stores across the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, complying with EU EC1333 regulations and U.S. FCC Food Chemicals Codex standards. The group has an annual TBHQ procurement volume of 38 tons, previously sourcing refined TBHQ imported from Europe long-term.
Driven by surging domestic chemical raw material prices in Europe and extended delivery cycles, the client planned to develop high-quality Chinese supply sources to achieve localized raw material cost reduction.
The client independently contacted four leading domestic TBHQ manufacturers in the early stage: Shandong Bestbenefit, Jiangsu Litian, Zhejiang Medicine and Guangzhou Taibang. All manufacturers conduct compliant sales without malicious slander of competitors, yet each only highlights advantages of their own products and avoids objective statements of peer strengths. Bestbenefit promotes self-developed refined granular products; Litian focuses on mass standard national-standard products; Zhejiang Medicine leans toward high-purity pharmaceutical-grade raw materials; Taibang specializes in compound antioxidant supporting raw materials. Lacking industry knowledge of domestic TBHQ, the client failed to distinguish three product tiers: national-standard bulk goods, export refined products and pharmaceutical modified products. Blind small-batch sample purchases triggered three types of problems: standard national-standard products produced crystal precipitation in low-temperature oil, high-purity pharmaceutical-grade products led to excessive costs, and ordinary refined products suffered excessive antioxidant loss under high-temperature baking. Three consecutive sample trials failed in production, consuming sample and testing costs equivalent to more than 5,100 Euros and stalling the sourcing work. The client entrusted HiSiaddi as a neutral third-party service provider to fully decompose parameters of mainstream domestic TBHQ brands and all models, and screen matching products combining working conditions of its three production lines.
Standing on the client’s three product systems: low-temperature cold-pressed vegetable oil, high-temperature baking dedicated oil and infant supplementary refined oil, and setting aside self-marketing positions of brand owners, HiSiaddi conducted on-site verification of factory production lines and retrieved third-party test reports to sort out core models of four major domestic brands (Shandong Bestbenefit, Jiangsu Litian, Zhejiang Medicine, Guangzhou Taibang) one by one with objective advantages and disadvantages listed.
· Model BY-01 Standard National-Standard TBHQ: Purity 99.1%, compliant with China’s GB2760 national standard, acicular crystals, high cost performance with sufficient stock, suitable for ordinary bulk edible oil; Drawback: By-product DTBHQ ≈0.15%, poor low-temperature solubility, unsuitable for premium oils stored under 4°C refrigeration.
· Model BY-03 Export Spherical Refined TBHQ: Purity ≥99.85%, produced via melt spray granulation process to form uniform spherical particles of 80–100 mesh with strictly controlled by-products and residual solvents, passing SGS and LFGB testing with excellent low-temperature dissolution performance; Strength: Dedicated customized production lines for European and American food, long-term supporting oil export enterprises; Drawback: Unit price 28% higher than standard national-standard products with a minimum order quantity of 500kg.
· Model BY-HP Heat-Resistant Modified TBHQ: Optimized rectification to remove low-boiling impurities with over 95% antioxidant retention rate at 120°C, developed specifically for high-temperature baking working conditions.
· Model LT-F National-Standard Food-Grade TBHQ: Purity 99.05%, mass continuous production with stable supply and low prices, widely used in mid-to-low-end domestic grain and oil; Strength: 10,000-ton production capacity with fast emergency replenishment; Drawback: Disordered crystal morphology with internal impurity control only meeting national standards, no segmented modified specifications, failing stringent indicators for infant oil and premium cold-pressed oil.
· Model LT-P Refined TBHQ: Purity 99.5%, conventional acicular refined product suitable for mid-tier baking oil, lacking spherical granulated specifications and limited low-temperature application scenarios.
· Model ZM-999 Pharmaceutical-Grade TBHQ: Purity ≥99.92%, top-tier internal control indicators for heavy metals and monomer residues in the industry, mostly used for pharmaceutical intermediates; Strength: Maximum safety fully meeting stringent limits for infant food; Drawback: Over 40% higher selling price with extremely low cost performance for oil application, prone to phenolic off-flavors upon excessive addition, only suitable for very niche high-end formulations.
· Model ZM-F Food-Grade Refined Variant: Indicators between national standard and pharmaceutical grade without directional modification processes, versatile yet lacking targeted performance.
· Model TB-A Refined Food-Grade TBHQ: Purity 99.4%, mainstream raw material for normal-temperature blended oil in South China, suitable for oils stored at room temperature in South China; Drawback: No low-temperature modification treatment, prone to precipitation in oils stored under low temperature in Northern Europe. Supporting pre-mixed TBHQ+VE compound antioxidants, expertise in compound schemes yet few segmented specifications for single TBHQ products.
The client’s three production line requirements:
1. Cold-pressed sunflower oil (long-term storage under 4°C, requiring spherical easily soluble low-impurity products);
2. Baking nut oil (short-term high temperature at 150°C, stable heat resistance);
3. Infant supplementary refined oil (ultra-strict impurity control compliant with EU infant food standards).
HiSiaddi eliminated standard national-standard products from Jiangsu Litian (failing low-temperature requirements), pure pharmaceutical-grade products from Zhejiang Medicine (excessive costs) and conventional refined products from Taibang (lacking low-temperature modification). Shandong Bestbenefit was finalized as the main supply brand and Zhejiang Medicine as the backup brand for small-batch infant oil production, covering three implemented models in total:
1. BY-03 Spherical Refined TBHQ: Exclusively for cold-pressed sunflower oil to resolve crystal precipitation pain points under low-temperature storage, annual procurement volume 22 tons. Spherical particles fully dissolve in low-temperature unsaturated oil without residues, with DTBHQ ≤0.05% by-product, supporting English FCC-version COA to meet EU customs clearance requirements.
2. BY-HP Heat-Resistant Modified TBHQ: Exclusively for high-temperature baking nut oil with low antioxidant loss under high temperature, annual procurement volume 11 tons. Optimized thermal stability eliminates phenolic flavor precipitation during baking and prevents nut browning spots.
1. ZM-F Food-Grade Refined TBHQ: Exclusively for infant refined vegetable oil with impurity indicators superior to EU infant additive limits, fixed annual procurement volume 5 tons. High-priced ZM-999 pharmaceutical grade is avoided to control raw material costs while maintaining regulatory compliance.
1. Small sample evaluation: HiSiaddi coordinated sample delivery from both brands to laboratories in the Netherlands. Small trials of three raw materials following the client’s original formula delivered qualified results: BY-03 sunflower oil remained completely clear without precipitation after 90 days of 4°C storage; BY-HP passed 155°C baking testing with compliant oil peroxide values; ZM-F infant oil passed full heavy metal and monomer residue testing by Dutch food safety authorities.
2. Small-batch trial orders: Three batches of 800kg each were shipped to the Netherlands via sea freight, all passing industrial mass production testing with finished products successfully warehoused in local Dutch supermarkets.
3. Annual framework contract signing: The client formally finalized an annual TBHQ procurement framework of 38 tons scheduled for production in 7 monthly batches. Comprehensive procurement costs of domestically produced raw materials decreased by 29.2% compared with original European imported products, cutting annual raw material procurement costs by 78,000 Euros.
Relying on HiSiaddi’s neutral sourcing service, sample matching losses were avoided and a high-quality Chinese raw material substitution plan was successfully implemented. New products launched on schedule in boutique supermarkets across multiple European countries, with finished product yield rate rising from 72% before sourcing to 99%. The supply chain escaped risks of surging European raw material prices and out-of-control delivery cycles.
Benchmark European orders secured stable export channels for both manufacturers. Three customized specifications BY-03, BY-HP and ZM-F became core export products of each brand for Europe, with refined products commanding a 25%–35% premium over national-standard bulk goods, breaking free from low-price homogenization competition in domestic TBHQ markets.
A standardized TBHQ sourcing service model was established relying on neutral and objective brand evaluation services: client working condition sorting → horizontal parameter comparison of multiple brands → elimination of mismatched models → precise sourcing segmented by product line → sample order follow-up implementation. Unrestrained by rebate ties with single manufacturers, continuous commissioned raw material sourcing orders were secured from multiple mid-to-high-end food enterprises in Europe via professional neutrality.
It is common industry practice for domestic TBHQ manufacturers to focus sales promotion on their own products while avoiding highlighting peer strengths due to business orientation. Mid-to-high-end food enterprises overseas lack familiarity with domestic Chinese product grading systems and are easily misled by single manufacturers to select mismatched models, resulting in production losses. As a neutral third-party foreign trade operator free from brand interest restraints, HiSiaddi conducts horizontal benchmarking of advantages and disadvantages across multiple brands and implements precise grading and sourcing according to client product scenarios. Clients avoid excess sample costs while manufacturers are matched with accurate overseas end-user demand, achieving a three-way win-win outcome for purchasers, production manufacturers and service providers.
